San Pedro, CA – October 30, 2024 – Cabrillo Beach Yacht Club (CBYC) is proud to announce its selection as the host venue for the prestigious 2025 ILCA 4 & ILCA 6 Youth World Championships. These back-to-back events will bring together the World’s best young sailors for two weeks of intense competition on the challenging waters outside the Port of Los Angeles.
The ILCA 4 Youth World Championship will take place from July 19 to July 26, 2025, followed immediately by the ILCA 6 Youth World Championship from July 28 to August 4, 2025. Both events are expected to draw hundreds of male and female participants from over 50 countries, making this a truly global celebration of youth sailing.

These championships, organized by the class governing body, the International Laser Class Association (ILCA), are critical in the development of young sailors aspiring to compete at the highest levels of the sport including the 2028 LA Olympic Games. The ILCA 4 and ILCA 6 classes are renowned for fostering competitive sailing and providing a pathway to future Olympic participation.
Preparations are already underway at CBYC to ensure a seamless and memorable event. The club’s membership, state-of-the-art facilities, and prime sailing conditions promise to deliver an exceptional competition. In addition to the on-water racing, CBYC is planning a series of social events and community engagement activities to enhance the overall experience for all attendees including opening and closing ceremonies and mid-week parties.

Registration for both events will open January 2025. Sailors are encouraged to sign up early to secure their spot as entries for both events are limited and qualified by ILCA and the sailor’s country.
